Barbara A. Jones is a seasoned corporate and securities shareholder based in Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles office. Barbara co-chairs the firm’s 80+ attorney interdisciplinary Blockchain and Cryptocurrency practice group, which is ranked in the Chambers and Partners 2019 FinTech Guide. Barbara has counseled companies in connection with the application of securities laws and other issues relating to the structuring of digital assets, public and private coin/token offerings, fund formation, cryptomining operations, exchanges and ATSs, enterprise infrastructure, stablecoins, and the use of Blockchain-as-a-Service in a variety of industries, including financial services, entertainment, technology, real estate, healthcare/health tech, and retail, among others. Barbara’s practice extends to complex international and domestic transactions, including private and public financings, dual listings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic collaborations and joint ventures, and licensing transactions. She serves as a trusted advisor to public and private company boards of directors, senior management, and fund general partners on governance and complex regulatory reporting and compliance issues. Barbara's clients include financial institutions, private equity and venture capital groups, family offices, and companies in blockchain, cannabis, life sciences and biotechnology, information technology, retail, food and beverage, transportation, manufacturing, energy (traditional and renewable), mining, defense and security, telecommunications, media, entertainment and sports.

Barbara practiced U.S. corporate and securities law in London from 1990 through 2003, and headed the international capital markets practice of a major U.S. law firm from 1999 to 2003 before returning to the states. She continues to actively represent public and private companies, private equity/venture capital groups, family offices and investment banks in the European, Scandinavian, African, Israeli, and greater Asian markets, including China, South Korea and Japan. Barbara is a past chair of the ABA’s Subcommittee on International Securities Matters. She is a frequent speaker at bar association and industry conferences on legal issues relating to blockchain and coin offerings, as well as cross-border securities matters. Barbara is a contributing editor to Thomson Reuters for articles on U.S. and international regulations relating to token offerings. In 2018, Barbara was named by the National Law Journal as a Trailblazer for Cryptocurrency, Blockchain and FinTech.

Barbara is a competitive masters’ rower and has won numerous championships at national and world competitions. She also serves as a licensed referee for U.S. Rowing.
