Matthew King is the founder of Royal Cannabis Ventures (RCV), the preeminent boutique investment and advisory firm serving the world's leading cannabis investors and entrepreneurs.
RCV fund clients include Zola Global (founded by Igor Gimelshtein, former CFO of MedReleaf which was the largest cannabis acquisition in history at $2.9B USD) and Navy Capital (first hedge fund in the US to focus exclusively on cannabis with >$200M invested across 40 companies) among others.
RCV operator clients include Harvest Health (recent IPO at $1.5B valuation on Canadian Stock Exchange), Eaze (largest online cannabis delivery platform in the world), and F/ELD Extracts (widely regarded as the highest quality cannabis concentrates in California).
Prior to founding RCV, Matthew worked in Enterprise Sales at Microsoft in San Francisco representing clients including Wells Fargo, LinkedIn, Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield of California, Levi's, and Gap and worked closely with senior Microsoft executives including Chief Investment Officer Beau Damon as well CMO of Microsoft North America).
Matthew also served in Morgan Stanley's technology investment banking group in Menlo Park (group that underwrote the Facebook IPO and advised on WhatsApp's sale to Facebook) where he worked on a $6B bond issuance by Amazon.com and advised on Fitbit's pre-IPO round of financing including a $250M credit facility, as well as advised Amazon.com, IBM, First Solar, and Bloom Energy on M&A, strategy, and corporate finance.
Matthew earned his BA from Harvard University concentrating in Religious Studies with a focus on Tibetan and Japanese Buddhist Traditions and holds and MBA in Finance and Accounting from the Yale School of Management. Matthew resides in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles.
